A pharmacology graduate of St. John’s University in New York, Ellen Scharaga joined Alegria Specialty Pharmacy as an operational consultant in 2014. In addition to her professional responsibilities, Ellen Scharaga supports charitable organizations such as the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) raises awareness and funds for life-saving blood cancer research. Among the organization’s various school and education programs is called Students of the Year, a philanthropic leadership development initiative that invites exceptional high school students to cultivate skills such as entrepreneurship, project management, and marketing. The seven-week fundraising competition allows high school students to collaborate and raise funds in honor of a local blood cancer patient. The students get to improve their skills in networking and financial planning. At the end of the program, a Grand Finale Celebration recognizes the students who raised the most funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
